Special
Hockey Programs programs exist for the enrichment
of the athlete with a developmental disability. In addition
to physical hockey skills, the program emphasizes development
of desirable individual characteristics such as dependability,
self-reliance, concentration, willingness to share and
personal accountability. The game is developed within
each player helping the player to be more successful
both in hockey and outside that environment.
Our
program was developed to help all young athletes
achieve their dreams, reach their goals and make a positive
impact on society by inspiring passion into youth athletes.
We
encourage all youths and individuals with disabilities
to become empowered through the passion of sports participation.
Physical
Disabilities are no longer seen as a challenge
that interfere with the dream to play. Sled hockey,
provides an opportunity for many types of disabilities.
It is a high-energy, fast-paced, and literally an “in-your-face”
game. So, it’s easy to see why it is becoming one of
the favorite Winter
Paralympicssports
to watch.
Standing/Amputee
Hockey has allowed a growing number of athletes
to enjoy this great sport. Players use prostheses to
control a hockey stick or to skate. There are many opportunities
for these Hockey players in recreation hockey all the
way to international competition. Combining players
with various types of disabilities creates a unique
team experience in this fast-paced exciting sport.
Deaf/Hard
of Hearing Hockey provides opportunity for
individuals for recreation/competition as well as the
opportunity to play for US
Deaflympic Hockey Team.
We are dedicated to ensure that all individuals
who may have specific challenges with a disability
or economically, have the opportunity for recreational
sports participation.
